JSS POLYTECHNIC FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED

The name of the Polytechnic has been changed from “JSS Polytechnic for the Physically Handicapped” to “JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Abled” with the approval of AICTE, New Delhi from the Academic Year 2009-10.

This was the first Polytechnic of its kind in the country started in 1991 to offer Professional Education for Differently Abled at Diploma Level.  It was started under the World Bank Assistance Scheme of the Government of Karnataka.

The new Buildings of the Polytechnic were inaugurated by the then Honorable Prime Minister of India Sri Atal Behari Vajpayee on 3 rd January 1999 in the gracious presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamigalavaru, the President of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore .

Autonomous Institution

JSS PDA has been granted autonomous status since 1999-2000.  As such the curriculum, scheme of examination, evaluation are all governed by the rules of autonomy approved by the Board of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.  The Diploma is awarded by the Board of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka.
