The
department of Computer Science & Engineering was established
in the year 1992 offering 3 years Diploma with an intake of
30 Students. As there was much demand for this course, the
intake was increased to 60 in the year 1999.
The objective of the department is to provide better opportunities
for the disabled students to compete globally and to create
a better platform for them to pursue higher education in the
field of Computer Science.
The
department is having different types of computer acccessible
devices and special software such as Speech synthesizers,
Computer Aided Electronics Lab Systems, Amplifying Systems,
Modified keyboards etc., as teaching aids to teach the disabled.
Individual
attention is provided for the slow learners and hearing impaired
students through audio-visual equipment like OHPs, TV, VCR,
Computer and Multimedia Projectors. Several video cassettes,
CD-ROMs, and Audio Cassettes are used to reinforce classroom
teaching.
The
department comprises of three laboratories
namely Computer Lab, Electronics Lab and Microprocessor Lab
with all the necessary equipment to train the students according
to the curriculum. The Computer Center has more than 30 latest
computer systems and versions of all types of software.
The Polytechnic Campus is networked through a powerful Local
Area Network using latest cabling techniques for communication
and for resource sharing.
Internet facility has been acquired, which has become the
window to the world for the disabled students of this institution.
