MYSORE PALACE

Mysore City, known as the City of Palaces and the garden city of India, is located at 770m above sea level and situated 140 km away from Bangalore, the capital city of Karnataka. It is well connected by road and rail transport. Karnataka, one of the states of India, is a land of fragrance, sandal wood, silk and spices.

Historically, Mysore traces a legacy of glory, power and culture. It was the erstwhile capital of the Wodeyars. The Palace, Art gallery, Church, Brindavan Gardens and other monuments of the past in and around Mysore are world-renowned. It is an important tourist centre.

Mysore is a rich centre of education with Mysore University as its backbone since educational institutions of repute are located here. Many institutions for the cause of Differently Abled like All India Institute of Speech and Hearing, School for Blind, School for Deaf and Dumb, School for Mentally Retarded, Industrial and Training Centre for Blind etc.., started by Government and Private organizations are also functioning in the city. JSS Polytechnic for the Differently Abled is one such institution and first of its kind in the country to provide professional education for the Disabled in Mysore.

SRI SUTTUR MUTT IN MYSORE

JSS Mahavidyapeetha was founded five decades ago by His Holiness Late Jagadguru Sri Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru, the 23rd Pontiff of the 1000 years old Suttur Mutt. With 216 educational institutions from Creche to Professional Colleges under its umbrella, JSS Mahavidyapeetha has been striving for the cause of education under the able guidance and blessings of its President, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamigalavaru, who is the present Pontiff of Suttur Mutt.

The institutions which are located in Karnataka, Tamilnadu and Delhi are offering higher education in various fields like Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Science, Law, Commerce and General Education. It is also running three special schools for the Differently Abled and one offering Diploma course in Integrated Education for training of the teachers in Special Education.
